Operations
Griffiss Utility Services Corporation (GUSC) distributes electricity and steam heat to Griffiss Business and Technology Park tenants that are purchased from multiple sources.
GUSC receives a ReCharge New York allocation of low-cost electric power from the New York Power Authority (NYPA). Any energy needs in excess of the NYPA allocation are procured through market purchases in the wholesale electricity markets administered and monitored by the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), the operator of New York’s bulk electricity grid.
GUSC owns energy assets located within the Griffiss Business and Technology Park. This includes steam generation and distribution systems, two substations with 70 MW of combined capacity, and the associated electrical distribution system. GUSC also purchases and distributes energy generated by GUSC Energy’s biomass energy facility.
