Griffiss Utility Services Corporation (GUSC) was established in 2000 as a not-for-profit utility corporation whose primary mission is to support Griffiss Local Development Corporation’s (GLDC) efforts to stimulate economic growth at Griffiss Business and Technology Park.
GUSC is regulated by the New York State Public Service Commission, as are all utility companies in New York State (i.e. National Grid, Consolidated Edison, etc.), for safety, reliability and system efficiency.
GUSC is the utility that sells electricity and steam energy to the park’s 68 companies and organizations. The natural gas fired steam and electric facilities were conveyed by the Air Force to the Oneida County Industrial Development Agency in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
GUSC is responsible for all maintenance and capital improvements to the utility electric and steam distribution systems of the park.
GUSC also responds to any interruptions in service with utility crews that are on-call and available 24/7.
Located in Rome, New York, GUSC is governed by a 7-member board made up of business professionals with varying backgrounds and skill sets.
